    Biggest gainers & losers of the day: Advani Hotels rallies 13%, Butterfly hits lower circuit

    New Delhi: Domestic equity markets ended another volatile session on a weaker note, thanks to the critical situation between Russia and Ukraine. Benchmark indices settled lower for the second session. Hawkish tone of the Fed added to the woes.

    The 30-share pack Sensex dropped 104.67 points or 0.18 per cent to 57,892.01. Its broader peer, Nifty50, shed 17.60 points or 0.10 per cent to 17,304.60. Broader markets underperformed as the BSE midcap and smallcap indices declined.

    Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services said, "Domestic equities struggled to maintain stability given the uncertainties surrounding the geopolitical tensions between Russia and Ukraine. Continued FII selling in the domestic market instilled cautiousness in investors".

    Advani Hotels and Resorts rallied after RK Damani picked a stake in the company, whereas Solara Active Pharma continued to hit its upper circuit. Mawana Sugars' sweetness remained after strong Q3 numbers. On the flip side, Butterfly Gandhimathi tanked, followed by KRBL and Hikal.

    GAINERS OF THE DAY


    Advani Hotels & Resorts (India):
    The microcap resort player zoomed about 13 per cent to Rs 93.40 after the ace investor Radhakishan Damani bought 23.93 lakh equity shares or 5.17 per cent stake in the company through Derive Investments.

    Mawana Sugars: The sugar player rallied over 12 per cent to Rs 122.70 as the company returned to black in December 2021 quarter reporting a net profit of Rs 14.87 crore as against a net profit of Rs 14.87 crore in the December 2020 quarter. The scrip has jumped about 40 per cent in the last three sessions.

    Solara Active Pharma Sciences: After losing two third of its value from its 52 week high due to a flop performance in December 2021 quarter, the pharmaceutical player is attracting buyers at the lower levels. The scrip hit an upper circuit of 10 per cent for another session to Rs 734.30.

    Everest Industries: The new age building solutions provider surged 10 per cent to Rs 650.55 following the strong buying in the construction related counters. The scrip has doubled investors' wealth in the last one year.

    Schaeffler India: The ball and roller bearing manufacturing company was high in demand among the investors following the stock split into five shares of face value of Rs 2 each, which was Rs 10 earlier. The company also announced a dividend of Rs 16 per share after the division of the shares.

    LOSERS OF THE DAY

    Butterfly Gandhimathi Appliances: The kitchen appliances maker tanked 10 per cent to Rs 1,171.05 over the media reports suggesting that Crompton Greaves Electricals and Havells India have made offers to buy out the company.

    Reliance Infrastructure: The Anil Ambani led company dropped another 8 per cent to Rs 113.20 after the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has filed a fresh affidavit in the Delhi High Court comprising its balance sheet and details of all bank accounts and fixed deposits.

    Medplus Health Services: The recently listed pharmacy chain tumbled about 7 per cent to Rs 1056.85 as the company hosted an investor/analysts meet on Wednesday after the market hours to discuss its results for the quarter ended December 2021.

    KRBL: The rice processing and exporting company slumped over 6 per cent to Rs 186.80 following its flop show in the December 2021 quarters. The company has eroded 26 per cent of the investors wealth in the last one month.

    Hikal: The pharmaceutical company shed more than 5 per cent to 388 following a notice from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) for closure of Taloja unit in the Raigad district, within 72 hours.
