Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed higher in the Tuesday's session.

Ponni Sugars(Erode)(up 5.65%), MAGADHSUGAR(up 2.05%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries(up 1.97%), Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(up 1.77%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(up 1.76%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(up 1.00%), BAJAJHIND(up 0.95%), Balrampur Chini Mills(up 0.79%), KCP Sugar & Industries(up 0.51%) and Mawana Sugars(up 0.31%) stood among the top gainers.

Simbhaoli Sugars(down 1.37%), Bannari Amman Sugars(down 1.03%), Rana Sugars(down 1.00%), Uttam Sugar Mills(down 0.93%), EID Parry(down 0.90%), K.M.Sugar Mills(down 0.84%), Ugar Sugar Works(down 0.75%), DCM Shriram Industries(down 0.68%), Sakthi Sugars(down 0.62%) and Triveni Engineering & Industries(down 0.49%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 158.45 points up at 18053.3, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 562.75 points at 60655.72.

Larsen & Toubro(up 3.55%), Hindustan Unilever(up 2.71%), HDFC(up 1.77%), HCL Technologies(up 1.59%), HDFC Bank(up 1.49%), Reliance Industries(up 1.42%), Tata Consultancy(up 1.33%), Eicher Motors(up 1.3%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.28%) and UltraTech Cement(up 1.27%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, State Bank of India(down 1.67%), Bajaj Finserv(down 0.79%), IndusInd Bank(down 0.72%), Wipro(down 0.56%), Tata Steel(down 0.5%), Bajaj Finance(down 0.43%), Coal India(down 0.3%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 0.29%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.27%) and JSW Steel(down 0.22%) closed in the red.
