Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.91%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.

Shares of Abbott India(up 0.61 per cent), Laurus(up 0.16 per cent) and Natco Pharma(up 0.06 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 2.69 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(down 2.6 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences(down 1.97 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(down 1.65 per cent) and Aurobindo Pharma(down 1.6 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.91 per cent down at 12450.65.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 157.7 points at 16058.3, while the BSE Sensex stood down 508.62 points at 53886.61.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 7 ended in the green, while 43 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd., Suzlon Energy and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of PC Jeweller, Artemis Medicare Services Ltd., DSJ Comm, KCK Industries Ltd. and Cool Caps Industries Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Arshiya, Vikas Proppant & Gr, Suumaya Lifestyle, Sintex Plastics Tech and DRC Systems India Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
