“This is to inform you that a temporary technical configuration error related to our login and sign-up service was reported on Thursday August 25, 2022. As a result, some Akasa Air registered user information limited to names, gender, email addresses and phone numbers may have been viewed by unauthorized individuals. In May, SpiceJet faced a ransomware attack which compromised wide ranging systems like the booking engine, flight operation software. Hundreds of SpiceJet aircraft were delayed as the airline shut down many platforms to contain the attack. The phishing attack forced the airline to delay its FY 2021-22 results and the airline is declaring it on 30 August.

Similarly, last year a major cybersecurity attack targeted Air India’s passenger service system and exposed personal information of 4.5 million passengers, including their credit card and passport details, the company said. Subsequently, a passenger sent legal notice to the airline seeking Rs 30 lakh compensation from the airline.
