Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.21%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of Bharat Forge(up 1.8 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.0 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(up 0.97 per cent), Escorts Kubota(up 0.92 per cent) and Tata Motors(up 0.78 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, TIINDIA(down 3.27 per cent), TVS Motor Company(down 2.8 per cent), Bajaj Auto(down 0.87 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 0.71 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries(down 0.15 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.21 per cent up at 12979.4.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 80.6 points at 17736.95, while the BSE Sensex stood up 212.88 points at 59756.84.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 ended in the green, while 13 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, PNB, Suzlon Energy, RBL Bank and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Nalwa Sons Invst, Bharat Bijlee, SJVN, IIFL Finance and Trans & Rectif hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while NMDC, Gland Pharma, Precot Meridian, FSN E-Comm(Nykaa)and Sigma Solve hit their fresh 52-week lows.
