Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.52%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

Shares of HCL Technologies(up 0.54 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, MPhasis(down 3.17 per cent), Mindtree(down 3.08 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(down 2.77 per cent), L&T Technology(down 1.33 per cent) and Tech Mahindra(down 0.61 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.52 per cent down at 28572.2.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 80.6 points at 17736.95, while the BSE Sensex stood up 212.88 points at 59756.84.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 ended in the green, while 13 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, PNB, Suzlon Energy, RBL Bank and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Nalwa Sons Invst, Bharat Bijlee, SJVN, IIFL Finance and Trans & Rectif hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while NMDC, Gland Pharma, Precot Meridian, FSN E-Comm(Nykaa)and Sigma Solve hit their fresh 52-week lows.
