TCS, Infosys, Wipro, MindTree Q2 results: winners and losers

The second quarter of the fiscal year is a seasonally strong quarter for the Indian IT services sector. India Inc's intent to hire in the October-December quarter has reached the highest in the past 18 months. 1. Tata Consultancy Services continues to stay on top
IT bellwether registered a net profit of Rs 9624 cr for the quarter ended September 2021, compared to Rs 9,008 cr reported in the June quarter. It has reported a net profit of Rs 7,475 cr in the corresponding quarter of last fiscal.

April-June 2021 quarter- Net profit of Rs 9,008 cr
July-Sept 2021 quarter- Net profit of Rs 9,624 cr
July-Sept 2020 quarter- Net profit of Rs 7,475 cr

Year-on-year growth: 14.1%

2. Infosys- second largest IT firm
IT giant Infosys reported a 12% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 5,421 crore for the September quarter. It was Rs 4,845 crore in the year-ago period.

April-June 2021 quarter- Net profit of Rs 5,195 cr
July-Sept 2021 quarter- Net profit of Rs 5,421 cr
July-Sept 2020 quarter- Net profit of Rs 4,845 cr

Year-on-year growth: 11.8%
Quarter-on-quarter growth: 5.3%

3. Wipro- on the path to recovery
Wipro reported a 9.6% sequential decline in consolidated net profit for the quarter ended September to Rs 2,930.7 crore, which was still above analysts’ expectations.

April-June 2021 quarter- Net profit of Rs 3,230 cr
July-Sept 2021 quarter- Net profit of Rs 2,930 cr
July-Sept 2020 quarter- Net profit of Rs 2,390 cr

3. MindTree- Climbing up the ladder
Mid-size IT services firm Mindtree reported a net profit of Rs 398.9 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2021, up 57.2 per cent. The company's revenue was up 34.3 per cent to Rs 2586.2 crore.
