US extends gains, Dow jumps over 500 pts
Major stock indexes in the United States extended gains on Monday, with Dow soaring over 500 points following the latest batch of economic data. It was revealed that the manufacturing activity in the country continued to expand in September, although, at a slower rate. Meanwhile, US construction spending was down by 0.7% in August.
The Dow Jones surged 1.84% or 529 points at 10:09 am ET, while the Nasdaq 100 skyrocketed 1.34% or 146 points at the same time. The S&P 500 jumped 1.68% at 10:10 am ET. The euro was flat against the dollar at 10:14 am ET, selling for 0.97965.
