Mutual Funds Achievements in India:

Assets managed by the Indian mutual fund industry has increased from Rs. 31.43 trillion in March 2021 to Rs. 37.57 trillion in March 2022. That represents 19.54% increase in assets over March 2021.

The number of folios rose to 12.95 crore in March 2022 from 9.79 crore in March 2021, registering a gain of 3.16 crore during the one-year period. The mutual fund industry has crossed a milestone of 10 crore folios during the month of May 2021, wherein the maximum investment is from retail segment.

The proportionate share of equity-oriented schemes is now 48.9% of the industry assets in March 2022, up from 42.6% in March 2021. The proportionate share of debt-oriented schemes is 37.9% of industry assets in March 2022, down from 47.1% in March 2021.

Individual investors now hold a relatively higher share of industry assets, i.e. 57% in March 2022, compared with 55% in March 2021. Institutional investors account for 43% of the assets in March 22, compared with 45% in March 2021.

Within Individual investors, direct plan share is 27%, while regular plan continues to dominate with 81% share. Within Non-Individuals, direct plan share dominates with 73% share while regular plan shar is 19%.

Of the total AUM, Rs. 30.85 trillion is from T-30 cities and Rs. 6.72 trillion from B-30 cities. The AUM share B-30 cities has marginally increased to 18% in March 22, from 17% in March 21. Monthly SIP inflows have grown from 9,182 crore in March 2021 to 12,328 crore in March 2022. At the end of FY22, the total number of SIP accounts stood at 5.27 crores.
