The board of mining and exploration major Vedanta
VEDL on Thursday approved a proposal to sell its international zinc assets in South Africa and Namibia to subsidiary Hindustan Zinc (
HINDZINC for $2.98 billion.
Vedanta said the all-cash deal will be completed in a phased manner over 18 months subject to regulatory and shareholders' approvals, according to a Thursday filing.
On completion of the transaction, THL Zinc, the unit of Vedanta that holds the international zinc assets, will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of a proposed subsidiary of Hindustan Zinc.
