AMBUJA CEMENT
The Greenfield integrated plant, which cost INR 2,350 Cr to build, was commissioned in August 2021. It increased Ambuja's clinker capacity by 3 MTPA and increased cement sales by 5 MTPA, contributing to its long-term capacity expansion goal. A waste heat recovery system is installed at the facility, turning waste heat generated into energy during the manufacturing process. With five integrated cement manufacturing plants and eight cement grinding units spread around the country, Ambuja Cement has a cement capacity of 29.65 MTPA.
Despite a challenging quarter due to COVID-19, Ambuja Cement had a strong performance in Q1FY22, with net sales of INR 3,342 Cr and EBITDA growth of 61% YoY. Operating profit increased by 78% with an EBIT margin increase of 3.1%, owing to robust volume growth and efficiency benefits. In Q2FY22, strong performance is expected with substantial increases in premium product sales and the effective implementation of efficiency improvement plans, which have been hampered by rising energy and raw material costs. Ambuja Cement has significantly benefited from the synergies created by the master supply agreement in expanding its presence across the country.
