Europe markets close higher following CPI report
Major European markets closed higher on Thursday following the release of the latest inflation data from the eurozone.
Earlier, Eurostat had said that annual inflation fell to 6.1% in May, down from 7% in April. Besides, investors learned that the UK manufacturing sector's decline accelerated in May and that mortgage approvals fell to 48,700 in April.
At the close, the German DAX rose 1.20%, with Airbus Group being the best performer, up 2.94%. The French benchmark CAC 40 added 0.57%, while Capgemini improved by 3.07%. The FTSE 100 advanced by 0.59%, as Fresnillo increased by 4.51%. The EURO STOXX 50 improved by 0.94%, and Intesa Sanpaolo was leading the gains, rising by 3.46%.
The euro and the British pound were up by 0.45% and 0.68% against the dollar at 5:27 pm CET, selling for $1.07372 and $1.25235 simultaneously.
